happy as a pig in mud

One of Fatcat's many favourite nap spots is on my desk in the morning sun. He will sleep on whatever happens to be on that spot -which a few days ago were 35 flower cutouts waiting to go on cards and which are now covered in sand and cat hair! So I thought he deserve a bed for his 10th birthday -and he hasn't budged since!

Flower Power

I simply love flower embellishments. These I learnt from a tutorial on one of my FAVOURITE blogs -this girl just loves colour as much as I do and i learnt to crochet simply because i had to be able to make some of the things on her blog: check it out: http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/
These i made to dolly up a skirt when I was madly dyeing my own fabrics.
The crochet flowers were sewn on to a plain pair of denims for a bit of fun . I was inspired to post these after a challenge on this blog:http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/?p=790

Mobile Swap

This is a collage of the mobile i received from Diane as part of a mobile swap (http://www.elsiemarley.com/mobile-swap.html) I took part in in Feb. (although i only got around to sending mine off in mid March...). I love this mobile- especially since we have so many trees in the garden, squirrels and even a white rabbit! Now a little red birdhouse would be really sweet...

Have spent hours trying to master Picasa and as usual there must be an easier way to do it than the route I am taking, but small steps...every try is one step towards easy blogging. At least the photos download much more quickly -just wish they would automatically download to Picasa from my camera. A task for another day. This was just trying out the collage option which i rather like -so here pictures of what we made for Easter.

Easter idea

This was the sweetie table at Robs' party last year: we had a bunny party so could cash in on the egg rush. This year it struck me that modified,it would have been a fun idea for an Easter table.Posted by Picasa

fairies at the bottom of the garden

The pottery teacher suggested this - making a special place in the garden for all the pottery offerings that come home. There is simply NO space left on the shelf for three years worth of production! The girls had such fun putting it all together -but of course we have had to cordon it off to stop the dogs tearing through. Will have to see how it weathers the winter rains...

i have your number

I have wanted to make these mosaic house numbers for SO LONG. In fact for the last 8 years -ever since we moved into this house. AND FINALLY two weeks ago I was able to source the right materials (namely the numbers) -and of course then it was done in about a week as I obsessively needed to finish the project. We didn't even screw them on -the Husband mixed up some epoxy and I think the wall will crumble before these ever come off. I simply love coming home now just so that i can admire them!! The flowers on my verge are finished now after the hot summer, so I will photo it again in spring when you can see the blue and yellow flowers on my verge (the inspiration for the colours).
